Mom's banana bread
Oh boy. Is there anything better than Mom's banana bread. I'm sorry to say that my Mom's is better then your Mom's. Get over it!
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup flour.
- 1 small teaspoon baking soda (not baking powder).
- 1/2 cup milk.
- Pinch salt.
- 1/2 cup yellow Crisco shortning (get the vegetable kind in the yellow box).
- 1 1/2 cups sugar.
- 3 eggs.
- 3 very ripe bananas.
- Pecans (or walnuts or chocolate chips or both).
Instructions:
- Mix flour, baking soda and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix Crisco and sugar. Beat.
- Add 1 egg. Beat.
- Add 1 egg. Beat.
- Add 1 egg. Beat.
- Add first bowl and milk to second bowl, small bits at a time, alternating.
- Bake at 350 for 45 minutes to one hour.
- Makes 2 rectangle cake pans.
